Seine River Cruise

I have a friend who is told me the best and only Seine River Cruise I should do is the Bateaux Mouches, however this cruise is a significant walk further from my hotel. The Vedettes du Pont Neuf is closer. Is there really a huge difference between these 2 cruises? I know Bateaux Mouches offers an open ticket which is convenient. Thank you!

the three main cruises are all alike except Vedettes Pont Neuf has live rather than canned commentary. I have done VPN and thought it was terrific. Do the one that is most convenient for you. You can bring your own wine and snacks if you want them.

I much prefer Vedettes du Pont Neuf. The boats are smaller, the seating is such that no one stands in front of you, and the commentary is live. You can purchase reduced price tickets on their website:

There is a difference among the operators and I recommend Vedette du Pont Neuf.

Having done both of the cruise operators you’re looking at I agree with the earlier posters, Vedettes was much nicer.

Since your friend claims this is the best did you ask them if they have done all of the various operators. I’m pretty sure there’s some other operators I haven’t done and they might be better but I can only speak to the two I’ve done.

Excellent! I’m going with Vedettes du Pont Neuf. I plan on taking a night cruise. Can anyone speak to the walk from St Germaine to Pont Neuf? Looks like less than 15 minutes. I am a single female traveler. Uber or taxi is an option too

The streets of Paris are full of people very late into the evening, so walking back to your hotel after the cruise should not be a concern.

When are you going to be there? Sunset can be quite late there in summer - like 10 pm ish.

Paris is very safe as far as violent crime is concerned. I walk alone and also with my elderly. husband late at night all over Paris and have never been concerned. This is tourist central and there will be lots of people out and about. No worries. (the big threat is pickpockets and that is anywhere but particularly on transport and tourist spots like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, the Orsay etc. No big deal just make sure you have no values in a spot that can be accessed (including front pockets) and carry as little as possible of value.

I ended up taking the sunset Pont Neuf and loved the live commentary and we saw all of the sites. I had an amazing time in Paris on a solo trip and I can’t wait to go back. Have an amazing time!

nmarsa, Are you referring to Vedettes de Pont Neuf? I haven't heard of just Pont Neuf.
If so, yes they are the best (not fanciest0, most satisfying.
