My husband and I took a great sunset cruise a few years ago on a smaller boat but can't remember the name of the company. I remember being out in the open near the tour guide. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Any recommendations?
Maybe Vedettes Pont Neuf which uses smaller boats and not the big flat ones and the launch site is below Pont Neuf?
Thanks Janet. I was thinking that might possibly be the one. Or maybe Bateaux Parisiens. They both look familiar to me. In any case, thanks much for your help.
I liked Pont Neuf because of the open top. I was staying in Marais, so it was convenient.
We've taken both and Vedettes Pont Neuf is definitely the better one, in our opinion.
Agreed, Vedettes Pont Neuf is the better option. We took their cruise at sunset a couple years ago - in July, so 'sunset' was close to 22:00 - it was a great experience to see the dwindling light reflect off the City's landmarks and off the water itself. By the time the boat arrives back to it's bridge-side departure point, everything looks remarkably different, all lit up.
My recommendation is to check the almanac to see when sunset is to occur during your visit. As the cruises run every 30 minutes, show up one trip sooner (than the one containing sunset timeline) and let those people in line go in front of you. This will allow you to be first in line for your cruise and get seating in the front row for unobstructed views. The front row only has 6 seats (2 sets of three, divided by center walk), so they get taken immediately. Have a great time!
As I recall you can save a euro or two on Vedettes by purchasing online.
Thanks, everyone for your help. Vedettes du Pont Neuf it is!
