Hi all, could anyone recommend a good cruise on Seine in Paris? If it's a dinner cruise, might be even better!
Thanks everyone!
The 3 river tour companies, which each do 1 hour return tours: Bateaux Parisiens (boards near Eiffel Tower), Bateaux-Mouches (boards at Pont de l'Alma), and Vedettes du Pont Neuf (boards at Pont Neuf. We prefer the latter because they provide live commentary, and their location is very close to Notre Dame and Ile St Louis. Otherwise, they all cover the same route. We prefer to dine at a bistro or restaurant either before or after the cruise, to take our time and enjoy the food, and then cruise and give our full attention to the scenery.
But Le Calife dinner cruise gets a fair number of recommendations.
There are a couple of dinner cruises that get consistently good reviews: Le Calife and Alain Ducasse
The larger boats serve previously prepared food that’s been microwaved.
For a cruise without dinner, any of the cruises will do really. So take whichever one you’re nearer to when you want to go. Reservations aren’t necessary. There is one across from the Eiffel Tower and one that departs from the western tip of the Ile de la Cite. Just know that the one from Ile de la Cite is down fairly steep stone steps to the quay, in case that matters.
Wonderful. Thank you for the recommendations! Something to think about. Off to reading about the cruises!
You can easily get a cruise. I would not do a dinner cruise. It sounds nice, but the dinner has you eating instead of enjoying the magnificent view and skyline and lights of Paris. Most cruises run along the river to a turn point and return. They are not that long. You need to be outside on the deck and looking around and seeing all that is around you. A sit down meal with distracting eating and conversation misses the point. There are plenty of opportunities to eat and enjoy elsewhere in Paris.
