Seeking Paris hotel area suggestion for a 6 day trip in November

I'll be traveling on my own in November and I want to stay in a neighborhood convenient to taking the RER to CDG for a 10am flight home but also be in a lively neighborhood with plenty of restaurants and cafes and also within a 5 minute walk to a métro stop that is in an area safe for a woman traveling alone. Is that asking too much? :-)

I'm from NYC and have lived on my own in the city for years before getting married so I'm not afraid of being in a city alone. I also know to walk in well-lit, populated areas at night. I just want to make sure that my hotel is convenient to public transport to/from CDG and in a neighborhood in which I would be safe walking back to the hotel after 10pm as there would be plenty of people walking around.

I've stayed within a 5 minute walk of Gare du Nord with my husband but wasn't sure how safe I'd feel on my own later in the evening.

Thanks for your assistance.

I'm a fan of the 10th Arrondissement, in particular the Le Citizen Hotel. Le Citizen is a 16 minute walk to Gare du Nord - I just checked on Rome2Rio. While not overrun with tourists, I felt perfectly safe in the neighborhood in 2015 - although I was with my husband.

We stayed very close to the Denfert-Rochereau metro stop and had no problem taking the RER to CDG for a 10am flight. Nice neighbourhood, safe, great restaurants and shops. Rue Daguerre is a market street.

Area near Luxembourg or St. Michel Metro/RER stops -- lots of people out at all hours.

I think Laura's idea matches best with what you're looking for. Something around Luxembourg or St Michel RER stations.

Anywhere near the Blvd St-Michel from the river south to Port-Royal will put you close to RER B and Metro connections for sightseeing. There will be lots of people around at all hours. Let your budget and tolerance for street noise determine how far south of the river you stay (in general, closer is costlier and noisier, farther is cheaper and quieter). Your NYC skills will make you a total pro in Paris. ;-)

Google Maps will show you links around a landmark or square, maybe not comprehensive but the links are convenient. My preferred area runs from La Bastille to Gare de Lyon; I also like Place de la Republique. If your getting jittery at night, take a cab back to your hotel (you should be carrying the hotel card anyhow.)

Thank you all very much. One thing I wanted to add is that I don't take taxis.

Your NYC skills will make you a total pro in Paris. ;-)

Thanks, Dick!

I'm staying at the hotel Les Jardins du Luxembourg this June. It's about a 3 minute walk from the Luxembourg RER station on the direct line from CDG. It's in a great neighborhood that I've stayed in before right next to Luxembourg Gardens in the Latin Quarter. It's a lively neighborhood with everything you're wanting but this hotel is on a small, dead-end street so it seems quiet. I've never felt unsafe in this area. The hotel gets great reviews and the price is competitive for Paris.

Denfert-Rochereau is on the RER B line. You can take the Bus Direct right outside and buy your ticket from the machines under the shelter, when you are ready to leave Paris.

Hotel Lenox Montparnasse, or Hotel de la Paix would be good choices. Good for walking and transportation. There is an open-air market at Edgar Quinet twice a week. And rue Daguerre is where everybody else shops.

There will be no problem with you walking around, even after midnight.

I always stay in the 10th Arrond, ca 2 mins from Gare du Nord in a 2 star hotel. I've never been there in November.

There is the Mercure (more pricey) just opposite of Gare du Nord and also the Ibis Gare du Nord on Rue St Quentin, next to the Chinese restaurant, Le Jumbo. The Ibis is ca 3 mins from the station at the end of the block

If my flight departs for SFO at 10 am, then I stay the night before at Roissy. I stay at the Hotel Campanille, a 2 star French chain, which has shuttle service to CDG.
