Seeking hotel suggestions for Paris - April, 2026

We are two females, aged 60s, in good health and decent shape. We would like to have a quiet hotel, away from too much nighttime bustle. Our budget will top out at $600/night total. We will be in Paris for 2 -3 nights (and will then join a RS tour of Southern France). We have both been to Paris before, one of us speaks decent French, and we are not looking for touristy places, or bars. We want to explore gardens, museums, small neighborhoods, restaurants, etc. We want to see the refurbished Notre Dame, and would like to be within walking distance of a metro. Any suggestions for a quiet hotel would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Consider staying on Ile St. Louis. You'll be right in the heart of Paris and about as centrally located as can be. It's right behind Notre Dame, a metro stop is close by, and there are several places to eat on the main street.

We've stayed at Hotel des Deux-Iles and were very pleased. They also have a sister hotel on the island., and there are a couple of other hotels on the island as well.

If you stay on the island, we can tell you about a great little place for breakfast for not too much money, as well as several other places to eat.

I just stayed at Hotel Le Régent for 5 nights. It is on the edge of the 6th and the Latin Quarter. There is a tremendous amount of “nighttime bustle” around, but interestingly enough, none of it is heard in the hotel guest rooms. I was on the 5th floor and my son and his wife were on the third floor. Neither of us heard noise from outside.

Walking distance to Notre Dame and 2 metro stops.

Take a look at Hotel Andrea just off the Rue de Rivoli in the Marais. I stayed there a few years back and loved the location. I didn't buy their breakfast because there were so many great places near by. The bus to the Louvre runs right along Rue de Rivoli. Hotel de Ville metro stop is nearby and you aren't that far from Notre Dame.

We have stayed at Hotel Residence Henri IV several times. The hotel is in the 5th at the dead-end of Rue de Bernadines. It is very quiet, the rooms are decorated with period antiques, and most of the rooms have small balconies. I think there are about 14 rooms. Notre Dame, the Pantheon, and Luxembourg Gardens are all a 10-15 minutes flat walk. Lots of restaurants within easy walking distance.

I recently stayed at Hotel Fontaines du Luxembourg, located at 4 Rue de Vaugirard. This is on a quiet street near Luxembourg Gardens. It was not far from several metro and RER stations. The neighborhood has plenty of cafes and restaurants. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful.

I paid less than 600 euros for three nights. The room was quite small, but fine for me by myself. I think they have larger rooms if you are sharing. They have a small elevator.
