I will be in Paris for a few days at the end of July. How long are the security lines for going up the Eiffel Tower even if you have a ticket to go up?
a couple of years ago when we took our granddaughter, we waited 70 minutes to get on the elevator WITH timed tickets. I think this was unusually bad. The lucky thing was that they had closed the top for some reason and so when we got to level 2, they had just opened it up again. People didn't know that and so we had no wait for the top elevator; often that is an hour so waiting in line.
This April, it was rainy on the day we had tickets and we took our 8 year old grandson; because of the rain there were no lines -- we just walked right onto the elevator (security is simple) and then again on level two we had no wait for that elevator. Our grandson was quite pleased and a great sport about the rain because it meant he didn't have to line up.
I'd get there at least a half hour ahead of your slot -- maybe 45 minutes. The perimeter security is quick then you go through security against the head of the line to the elevator.
My family and I were in Paris last November and we too had timed tickets to go up the Eiffel Tower. It took a long time for us to get to the elevator, probably a good 45 min. There were also long lines inside the tower to get to the top. We had bought tickets to see sunset from the top, and we barely made it there before the sun set. I would definitely plan on 45 min wait time at this time of the year (although my family and I felt that Paris in November was just as crowded as we remember it to be in summer!).
