For those of you who have been to Paris during Covid, how did you manage scheduling tours vs. down time without a schedule? It seems like all the museums require you to book a time to be there. What is the best way to plan but not feel like you are tied to a schedule.
The big museums need a timed entry, smaller ones and the City of Paris Museums do not. I’ve done 2 timed entries to the Louvre over the last 2 weeks. I like to get in there 1st thing as it gets hot to me. I’m done in 2-3 hours so am leaving by lunchtime. I’ve got the Orsay scheduled this AM at 9 for the same reason. The smaller museums I’ve done this time I was just able to walk in to or schedule a few days out.
I’ve been a number of times so am really only doing one major site a day.
I’ve also spent sometime sitting in gardens. This has been partially foiled by the discovery that I am allergic to the blooms of the chestnut trees! So… I sit away from them or go to a park that doesn’t have as many.
What sites are on your list?
I found it helpful in Barcelona--which had a bunch of sights that needed to be prebooked because of demand even before COVID-19--to get a ticket for one of the problem sights first thing in the morning. At least for that one, I didn't have to worry about what time I'd be ready to leave my previous sight. It is frustrating when you have to schedule the second and third stop of the day, though.
