Scenic route Lyon to Chamonix on motorcycle, and any suggested stops?

Will be renting a motorcycle in Lyon and heading to Chamonix. Suggested scenic route(s)? Suggested things to see on way? We'd like to get safely away from the city of Lyon, so highways are fine to get out but then wouldn't mind being on smaller roads (suitable for motorcycles).

Would like to keep the trip around 4hrs or less if possible.

We have a michelin map of area which will certainly be useful for trips around that area once we are there, but it is a bit overwhelming to look at that map for the Lyon-Chamonix start of our trip!

Is your map not helping because it covers too much of Europe? Regional versions show an additional level of smaller roads with green lines adjacent to the most scenic routes. Their online version at www.viamichelin.com will suggest 2 options for "Discovery" driving routes (instead of fastest, etc) and you can indicate travel by motorcycle. The lakeside town of Annecy is a common stopping point for lunch, etc., cute and maybe crowded.
