Is there organ music and choir at Saturday night mass? Thanks Sue
sue,
I believe there is no choir at Saturday's 6:00 p.m. vigil (anticipated) mass, but the organ will be used for mass. Not 100% sure, but pretty confident.
This is last night's Mass of Anticipation (all masses and other Offices are broadcast by KTO) so you can see that there is Organ and Cantor, but no choir- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4S6kPuzTEFo
thank you so much! sue
What time should I go to get a seat? and can I go early and walk around before the mass begins?
thanks sue
Sue, there are different queues for those with tickets, without tickets and those attending a service (which requires no ticket).
The line for attending services is to the right of the entrance. If you are in line for a service, you will not be admitted until just before the service. I attended Sunday Vespers in April. The line started forming about 15-20 minutes before the service. You will be able to look around afterwards unless something changes.
If you want to tour Notre Dame before the service, get in line to the far left of the entrance for those with without tickets. You will probably be in line from 10-20 minutes before entry. I would allow about 45 minutes to explore the Cathedral.
Also, the Towers of Notre Dame have just reopened this weekend. This requires a pre purchased ticket and a separate line. Tickets to the Towers are not sold onsite. And beware, it's a very long climb up.
