I want to travel from Sarlat to San Sebastian, Spain / Biarritz
the train from Sarlat to Bordeaux (2h 47min)
I've heard there are buses (2hr 45 min) from Bordeaux to San Sebastian or Biarritz and read references to such BUT not definite schedules etc.
ANYONE !!! know about the buses? it seems a simpler route than the train with changes @ the border - if it exists

I haven't done that journey, though I have travelled from Sarlat to Bordeaux by train. But my go-to site for checking this sort of connection is Rome2Rio.
Unusually the total bus journey with only one change in Perigueux takes only a little longer than the train journey with 3 changes. You should be able to click through on that site to the bus timetables to be sure that they mesh. The Perigueux to San Sebastien bus link is here in English. But there would be many worse places than Perigueux to spend a night en route if you had to.
In Sarlat I loved staying at La Lanterne, but there are few rooms so you would need to book well ahead.
