Sarlat France back to Paris

We need to get back to Paris from Sarlat to catch a flight out of Paris for Italy. I am rather confused...about the easiest way to get back to Paris from Sarlat. Any advice is very welcome...and thank you1

You have to get to Bordeaux from Sarlat; either take the train (there was a direct from Sarlat to Bordeaux but it may be still under construction depending on what day you are trying to travel requiring you to transfer in Périgueux) or rent a car. At Bordeaux there are TGV trains to Paris and to CDG.

There is also a bus number 6 from Sarlat to Soulliac train station 5 times a day. At Soulliac you can get a train direct to Paris.

As of less than a month ago there were no trains going into Sarlat, but I think they planned to finish the track work (?) soon. The best thing to do is go to the SNCF website, enter Sarlat as your origin and Paris as your destination, and see what your options are. Don't try to guess what route will be best; look at the travel times, the number of transfers, and the time allowed for each change. Be sure to choose the right date; day of the week matters.

If you can't work out the train...

You could also rent a car in Sarlat (there's a friendly Europcar office there) and drive to CDG and return it there....

The highways in France are very nice and easy to drive. It will get trickier as your near CDG, but definitely doable if need be.

Or rent your car, drive to Tours, pick up the train there.
