Saint Sulpice Organ

Hello! I am headed to Paris with my wife for the first time on April 15th. We would love to see and hear the organ played at Saint Sulpice, and I wanted to check and see if anyone has recently attended the mass/concert beforehand.

I have read on other forums that the concert is now at 10am before the 11am mass. Some also say it is after the 11am mass.

Does anyone have guidance on when the most music can be heard, and also if they still let organ enthusiasts(like myself) into the organ vestibule?

Thanks

samgilliamtn,
The "concert" is before the 11:00 mass. Also, if you attend mass the organ is played during that one and the evening mass (6:00 p.m. I think). There are times when the one hour of organ music before the 11:00 mass doesn't occur. We were there on Pentecost Sunday last year and there was little music before, mainly just a little warm-up before mass. Probably because that mass had a large amount of young people being confirmed, and an auxiliary bishop said mass, and there were many families in reserved seats for the reception of the sacrament of confirmation. Just fyi, many churches in Paris do have great choirs and liturgical music at their masses. You can go to mass times.org to find churches in Paris, and their websites will be ,listed, so you can research each church's info.
Oh, and entrance to the organ's location is not open as it was in the past (as seen on the old RS show).

This is what I got from the website, as I was trying to figure out the same thing that you are.

CONCERTS AND AUDITIONS
Every Sunday the organ plays at 11 a.m. mass and for evening mass. The choir organ is usually heard at Sunday and festive masses at 9 a.m., 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Depending on the Sunday, the auditions take place either at 10 a.m. then prelude at 10:45 a.m., or at 4 p.m. Consult the AROSS website ( www.aross.fr ) to see the detailed schedule of auditions.

I went to St. Sulpice around 10:30am on Sunday, September 24, 2023, and the organ was being played before the 11am mass. Some people had started to arrive for mass, but there were plenty of others like me just wandering around the church. We left before mass started.

samgillismtn, were you able to hear the organ at Saint Suplice? We did. It was amazing. I think we managed to get there at least 20-25 minutes min before mass. Some congregants were already seated but there were also plenty of people just looking around.
