Saint Remy de Provence hotel or nearby? Nimes perhaps?

My husband and I are doing a Viking Cruise next month in March. We will be going from Avignon to Lyon. Our son and his wife and baby will be visiting us then and I was thinking that for the Avignon - Arles part of our trip that if they stayed around Saint Remy de Provence it would make sense. Hotels are filling up and I was wondering if there are other suggestions on where they stay or B&Bs? This is my first time in that area so I'm still learning..... TIA.... I just uploaded Rick Steve's Provence book but haven't had a chance to look at it yet.

St-Remy is a fine base, in general, as long as you plan to rent a car. Just check a map to be sure it's convenient to the places you want to visit. If unsure, take a look at the driving-time estimates provided by ViaMichelin.com.

If you plan to depend on public transportation, St-Remy will probably not be a good choice, because it has no train service at all. There are bus links to Avignon and Arles.

We stayed a week in Saint Remy at La Maison de Line in the fall of 2019 and found it lovely. It was a French cottage and the owners lived on the property too but never disturbed us. They have both rooms and cottages you can rent with a beautiful pool available to use. It was easy to walk into Saint Remy and ideal for tooling around Provence,, which we did.
