Saint Remy de Provence

Hi
I am travelling to St Remy from Paris at the end of June /July 2020 for 6 days and wanting to do some escorted day tours from there eg the lavender fields/ Aix- en - Provence and L'Isle- sur - la - Sourge.
I am a solo traveller and don’t intend driving.
I can’t seem to find any tours leaving from St Remy.
Open to any suggestions please.

If you will not have a car, Saint Remy, pleasant though it is, may not be the ideal choice as a base. For tours, staying in Avignon or getting there from Saint Remy is my suggestion. That being said Google “Alena tours Saint Remy.”

Thanks for your help on this one.
Also, would it be feasible to catch the tgv from Paris to Aix- en - Provence ; stay a couple of days and do tours from there and then stay at St Remy for a few days and explore the town?

Definitely, you can catch the TGV from Paris to Aix-en-Provence. There are tours that originate from Aix but I am not familiar with the names of any. Other may have suggestions or you can check with the Aix tourist office. Just a note that Aix is pretty big with a population of about 150K so it is a totally different feel from Saint Remy (population: about 15K).

I’ll just agree that the TGV is very easy from Paris to Aix. I did that in mid-October, then opted for a cab from the station to my hotel which was about 20€. I’m not normally a First Class traveler but the ticket in 1st was only a few Euro more when I purchased well ahead and those cars have a single row of seats down one side. Booking ahead I could also pick a seat near the luggage rack.

The Tourist Information office in Aix is really nice and they do run some tours. I didn’t take any of theirs but popped in to get a map of the self-guided walking tour for Cezanne sights. They have a good website so you may be able to find what you want there including some tours of the lavender fields.

I believe tours from St-Remy would have to be quite limited, due to the small size of the town. It doesn't even have rail service. If you aren't going to rent a car, I think it's a good idea to spend some of your nights in Aix, Arles or Avignon--whichever seems to have day-trips to places you'd like to see. There's decent public transportation to L'Isle-sur-la-Sorgue from Avignon (train) and Aix-en-Provence (bus). Bus service from Arles looks like it would be much slower.

Thankyou to all who have given me tips on this platform.
I have now decided to spend half of my time in St Remy and the other half in Avignon so that I can do some tours.
Thankyou once again for helping me to clarify my travel plans.

How are you getting to St-Remy ? We have based there twice, but with a car.

St-Remy is connected by bus to both Arles and Avignon; I assume that's how most public-transportation users manage it. It's a much longer bus trip to/from Aix-en-Provence; it might be best to do a bus connection in Cavaillon (which also has service to St-Remy), but the train/bus combo (connecting in Arles) is also possible. Optimal choice would depend on how the schedules fit together.

I spent time in St Remy in April. It is a fabulous town... I did an adventurous hike to Les Baux and back.
I highly recommend Emily Durand from Your Private Provence. She was an excellent guide, resource, and friend.
