Saint-Ouen neighborhood

This spring, I'll be staying at the Cafe Hotel de l'Avenir at the junction of Rue Charles Schmidt and Ave Gabriel Peri for awhile. It's a bit north of the Paris Peripherique, just above Mont Martre. I figure to get into town via the #13 metro. Has anyone had experience staying in that area? Did you encounter any problems? Do you know of any good cafes around there? Thank you.

There's nothing wrong with the area. The only problem with Metro 13 is that you'll need to make a change or two to get to the east side of the center of town.

It's not much of a café area., There's a McDonalds around there somewhere close to the intersection and a place to get a beer right across the road. If you walk south on Peri and go under the peripherique to Blvd Ney, there's a bunch of cafes and the all time Greek kabob joint run by a couple of Italian guys.

Montmartre is a good half hour walk to the south - - something close to a couple of miles.

Thanks, Ed. Walking is not a problem for me. I'll be there awhile, so I figured to just walk around the city at leisure, check out cafés, and different parts of the city; statuary, architecture, mademoiselles, things like that.
