Saint Ouen Flea Market shopping

Hello,

We will be in Paris the end of July and my daughter wants to go shopping at the Saint Ouen Flea Market.

Is the market mostly antiques or do they have a variety including clothing?

Is it an all day shopping experience (which would be her dream) or an afternoon affair (which would be more to my husbands liking).

Is it feasible to go on a 3 1/2 hour bike tour on a Saturday morning and then going to the flea market in the afternoon?

We could always go back to the flea market on Monday if we don't have enough time.

Any other suggestions for fun Paris clothing shopping that isn't high end?

Thanks!

Kelly

I have not been to the Saint Ouen Flea Market, but have shopped for clothes extensively in Paris. Your daughter will probably like the stores along the Rue du Rivoli, starting roughly around the Hotel De Ville and going out to the east and west. Lots of inexpensive shops (and a few second-hand vintage ones). It's easy to browse and try on things in these stores, they are all like department stores.
I also like BHV department store which is there also.
The Marais area to the north of the Rue du Rivoli has many small, unique jewelry, clothing, shoe stores that are fabulous. Some of these are more personal shops where you have to greet and interact with the shop owner and ask permission to look at items or try things on. But, you will find them hard to resist.
