We are scheduled to be in Paris for 8 nights beginning January 2, 2019 Our concern, however, is for safety and ease of travel throughout the city as tourists at the most popular sites in the city. What we read in the newspaper and online is not encouraging given the several week activity of the Yellow Vest movement. Any advice for two mid 70 travelers would be appreciated. Go or stay home until things return to 'normal?'
No, just avoid the areas of the demonstrations. Paris is a big city, lots of room. We have been in a numbers of cities with on going demonstrations and you just avoid them. We have hit them in Madrid and London so walk the other way.
Same question recently asked and answered in a topic initiated about 10 days ago on these pages titled "Should I cancel my travel my travel plans to Paris?".
In Paris right now having a blast. A few scribblings of "Macron démission" grafittied around, but still the greatest city on the planet.
I’ve been here for a week. I am a solo female late 60’s.....having the best time!!!! Please do Not stay home.
I'd suggest carrying on with your travel plans, but try to avoid any areas where demonstrations are occurring. The staff at your hotel should be able to keep you apprised of where demonstrations are occurring each day. The demonstrations seem to be subsiding a bit lately, so hopefully there won't be too many during your visit.
