Sacre Coeur climb

Next June, wife and I will be in France for a few weeks.
How difficult is the climb up the Sacre Coeur dome?
The view looks magnificent. We did St Peter's in Rome in 2018, and we were in worse shape AND it was 38°C I thought my wife was going to die. Is it as claustrophobic? Areas to rest?
I Googled SC vs St Peter's, but every answer was a story about St Peter's, ending with, "but I've never climbed both"
Thanks!!!!

It's a long climb, equivalent to about 25 storeys or so. Memories are hazy: I do not know if there are places to rest; I remember a fairly cramped staircase. Whether it is worth it is debatable: I live here, I did it once, and I don't think I'll ever do it again. The views from the ground in Montmartre are great already.

We did it in December of 2019 at ages 61 and 66. As stated above, very narrow at points but completely doable. In m opinion, views definitely worth the climb.

You can take the Funiculaire up to the top, takes a couple minutes. I have bad knees and did not want to exhaust them for the rest of the day by making the climb. One day I hope to do a leisurely stroll to the top.

I climbed the tower of Sacre Coeur about 5 years ago when I was already in my 70s with another woman the same age (the guys sat below and drank coffee not being into high places). It is similar to many towers and church domes I have climbed. It seemed much less arduous than the Duomo in Florence or the Torre Mangia in Siena but that is just an impression not information. The view is lovely. And when I did it there were maybe 6 other people climbing -- it was not something involving a line or crowds. I've also climbed St. Peters but I was much younger then. My impression is that again this one is less demanding.

I'm claustrophobic, but with a little support, I'm fine. I thought the view in front of the sacre coeur was beautiful, didn't need more. That said, I've been to both the top of the Notre Dame and the Arc De Triomphe, twice.

We took a walking tour of Montmartre & visited
Sacre Coeur. The climb to the dome was not offered on our tour. That said, the view from the ground was spectacular.

To clarify about the funiculaire, unless I'm very mistaken this cable car brings you to the street level in front of Sacre Coeur. Climbing to the dome inside Sacre Coeur is done on foot.

I have walked up all the pedestrian stairs in Montmartre to get up to where the funiculaire brings you. I was about 30 then and accustomed to a lot of walking as I didn't have a car where I lived (in a major U.S. city). It was strenuous enough that I wouldn't have felt like climbing a dome; I was happy just to enjoy the view from street level.

The question is about the climb to the dome. The funicular has nothing to do with the question.

For those wanting to climb to the dome of the Sacre Coeur, there is an entrance on the west side of the building which leads to the dome stairs. Cost is 7€.
