Sa-Tu - Best Days for Louvre and D’Orsay

We arrive on a Friday and board a Seine River cruise the next Tuesday, though it will still be docked in Paris until Wednesday afternoon.

I know weekends are crowded and closures can work against us. We were thinking of visiting D’Orsay on Saturday and Louvre on Monday. Would those be the best or other days better? Better to go at opening or say around 2 pm until closing for the Louvre or 2-3 hours before closing for D’Orsay? Louvre is pretty important with Mona Lisa in the Top 10 but not Top Top.

We also hope to use Sunday as Church organ day with concerts at St. Sulpice (12:00 ish) and St. Eustace (5?) so probably not a good museum day.

We arrive Friday morning but will probably be too jetlagged for a major museum (considering Rodin or Invalides).

Thanks for help!

I think your plan is sound. Yes to Louvre on Monday. Yes to Orsay on Saturday. Yes to leaving things open on Friday and possibly doing Rodin or Les Invalides. Rodin would probably be better especially if it's sunny as you can spend time in the garden with his big pieces and also get some sunlight in your face to help with jet lag.

I am an early morning person so I like the Louvre 1st thing in the AM. I got to the Orsay at 930 in October, scooted directly up to the 5th floor for the Impressionist galleries and I was alone up there. To do that, walk directly back to the back of the building, edging to the left around the small cafe back there. There are escalators hidden behind the cafe area that will take you directly up to 5.
