Rue Mouffetard restaurants

Bonjour,
I am looking for recommendations for restaurants for dinner in the Rue Mouffetard area. I am traveling solo for a few days and staying on Rue Mouffetard. I would like someplace where I will be comfortable dining alone, not too expensive, within walking distance. Merci !

Le Volcan. Corner of rue Mouffetard and rue Thouin. We had one of the nicest dinners of our entire trip there. And not that expensive. Go early or make a reservation. It's popular and fills up, since it's a fairly small place.

Looks like you aren't far from Polidor, at 41 Rue Monsieur le Prince. We enjoyed dinner there a few years ago. Great atmosphere; historic site. No credit cards. I think you'd be comfortable dining alone; the tables are very close to one another, almost communal seating. Website (with menus and prices: http://www.polidor.com/en/

Love, love, love Polidor! It's just enough "old French standards" for us -- boeuf bourgignon, fruit tarte --split a small carafe of house wine. Next month I may venture past the price-fixe menus.

Le Table de Genevieve on Rue Descartes is excellent. I had a fanastic meal there last summer. During that same trip, I also ate at Le Volcan which was good -- I wouldn't go across town to eat there but if you are already in the area, it's fine. Another good choice on Rue Mouffetard is Le Vieux Bistro. Do you like Vietnamese food? There are a bunch of places in the area, the best of which per my husband (I have tried none) is Mouffetard Saigon.

I was wondering if someone would mention Le Vieux Bistro. I've been eyeballing it for our next trip because, despite its very touristy location (and exterior) it gets consistently good reviews Seems like a good, fun plus for some quality fondue, among other options.

Thank you for all the wonderful suggestions. I looked a lot of them up online and I definitely will visit Vulcan. I know exactly where it is it's right up the street from my hotel and it looks great. Pomidor also looks interesting not sure if I will try that one but I will keep it on my list. I do plan on going to le vieux bistro my first night as my hotel is right next door. I'm only 2 weeks away from leaving I'm so excited.
