Rue Clare to CDG

Curious as to the travel time from Rue Clar to CDG on a Sunday morning? We have a flight around 1:00 pm and given that traffic in Paris can slow you down from time to time - what would be the ideal time to get going?

Thank you.

When is your flight? This summer, given airport issues (although CDG is not the worst affected), I would plan to get to the airport 4 hours before the flight. If things settle down by fall, then the standard 3 hours will be plenty.
Traffic on Sunday mornings is minimal, so I would allow 45 minutes for the taxi ride.

@balso

Our flight is 1:00 pm to Bangkok (international flight).

OK great, so 45 min (more or less) for the traffic / transfer to CDG from Rue Clare and add on another 4 hours for transit (check in - passport control - security check point and onto the gate.) Roughly 5 hours before flight time.

Very much appreciated.

I forgot to add that it is best to pre-book the taxi the day before, using taxi company "G7", which has a great app that could be useful during your stay in Paris as well. Prebooking adds 7€ to the 58€ fare.

@balso

Much appreciated. I did read this app is convenient. (Working out sign up details - issues with G7 now. Messaged. Never received the 4 digit code to complete the registration / account validation even after selecting "resend code".)

:-(

Nice to have this if we can get the app process finished. 65€ is not bad for a pre booked transfer.

Thank you again for your help.

We just Ubered this morning from Rue Cler to CDG. Took about 45 minutes, leaving 9:10 am. Getting checked in and thru passport control was reasonably quick and efficient. Longer wait to get thru security. Allow 3 hours to not feel rushed.

On a Sunday morning, Paris can be surprisingly sleepy with light traffic (lighter than other days at least). If it were me, I would have the hotel pre book a taxi on Saturday for you to leave the hotel no later than 9 am Sunday for a 1 pm flight...and with all of the airport issues this summer, I might even head out before that, after breakfast. Your real "traffic jam" will be inside of CDG where it can take 3 hours or more to get from the curb to your gate, so it would not be safer to leave your hotel by 8 am. Very important to pre book a taxi, though, and not leave transport to chance.

@njoydancin
Uber - did you find it reasonable for the rate? Not bothered about the spend but on occasion they can tend to be a bit high.
Good to know - 45 minutes seems to be the standard time for travel. Nice to hear the check in and passport control was quick and efficient. I am counting on security being lengthy - allow 3 hours to not be rushed seems to be the general info. Always nice to have confirmation.

Thank you for your info.

@Jojo Rabbit
I was curious about traffic on Sunday in particular (our departure day of course) but how quiet it would be or worse case scenario - perpetual bad traffic.
Definitely will pre book a ride - solid info from everyone so far (nice to hear)
Flight time is actually 1:40 PM and will base our transfer time and morning departure on everyone's good intel and advice.
Thinking to be on the safe (and stress free side) of travel and not take chances leaving too late.
Good to know that the major "traffic jam" will be at CDG (internally).

So happy to have great info shared - saves loads of "learn as you go".

Thank you for your tips.
Much appreciated.

The "sleepy" part of the drive to CDG on Sunday morning is the first third of it on the Paris surface streets. The rest of it on the Peripherique and the A1 is harder to predict and is usually pretty busy no matter what day of the week. While I have had cabs get me to CDG from central Paris in around 30 minutes, 45 mins is a good rule of thumb average, and only once did it take a little over an hour, but that was on a weekday evening and city streets and the highways were clogged, yet i still got out there in plenty of time because I had allowed for it.

Not sure where you live, but in the early AM tomorrow you might want to look on google maps or whatever map service you use and plug in your departure and destination and look at the traffic, check the transit times. The problem is that ultimately anybody in a car or bus who is going to CDG from Paris ends up on the Peripherique and A1, and because the train service out there is sketchy, that is a lot of vehicular traffic heading to and from the same destination.

the Tour de France comes into Paris on Sunday. I would want to be very sure the cab can get you from where you are to the airport without huge detours around the race course. And I would add some extra time given the chaos at airports now and the Tour de France.

The OP never did say which Sunday, just "a" Sunday, but you are correct that if he is speaking of the Tour de France Sunday, that is a consideration, especially this year because the women's event is taking place on the street's of Paris prior to the men, so it will be an all day tie up of streets.

Ok understood (traffic - routes to CDG and so on). Very detailed.

We will be coming from Cler Hotel (24 bis Rue Cler). Giving us 45 minutes - 1 hour travel time obviously preparing for the unexpected traffic delays. Have referred to GoogleMaps a few times for traffic conditions - will do so again shortly as the day and timing is about right. BKK is 5 hours ahead and being today is Sunday.

@janettravels44
Thanks. I believe TdF last stage (stage 21) is actually today 24 July 2022.

(Yes @Jojo Rabbit) I did forget to mention our visit is in September (should have had that in the subject line) apologies - good call!

Have made a note to pre book CDG transfer at the hotel at the latest -day before we check out.

Thank you to everyone for the insight - truly appreciated.

Asking the hotel front desk the day prior should always work, but I recommend that you inquire about it early in the day on Saturday or maybe 2 days prior to confirm sufficient lead time to get the pickup time you want. I say this because one time I asked on a late Saturday afternoon for a Sunday morning taxi, and I was hanging around in the lobby waiting on a travel companion, and I heard the clerk have trouble pinning it down for the time I desired (7 am). She finally got one committed for 7:45 am, and that worked out OK since our flights were in the 11 am hour, but still, if they will book it for you a couple of days in advance, or at least speak to them first thing on Saturday morning, it will be a safer bet for you.

Good luck.

Good to know. Less pressure and one thing less to have to do last minute. The hotel has been stellar on communications thus far. I'll drop them a quick message and follow up when we check in.
A number of major / metropolitan destinations seem to have this challenge (similar happened to us on occasion - so your advice is definitely sound when you mention this.) Wasn't sure of Paris (first trip) so asking around seems to have paid off.
Our departure time is more or less same time as yours was (that you wanted) so good to know.
Thanks again.

When we visit Paris we stay in the Rue Cler .... no matter what day or time I'd say plan on at least 45 minutes if not an hour.

I prebooked in G7

At the scheduled pick up time they sent a message saying basically “you are out of luck”

Carol, interesting info! Never happened to me in dozens of 7 AM bookings over the years, but I haven't used G7 as much recently: when did it happen to you? Was there any special event in town (tour de France, marathon, etc.)?
