RT air US-France

I am going to France in September, and currently watching the prices of air tix. Are they likely to go down any from here, or should I grab one now? Anyone know of a website that shows the usual seasonal patterns of pricing (I know, there are never any guarantees)? I was watching last fall and winter for tix this April, and noticed that prices fell through December, then started rising. Thanks in advance.

Where do you want to go and when.? There are no magic ways to determine airline prices. What happens one year, one period, may or may not happen the next time. I would set a price that you are comfortable with and buy with it hits it. Like buying stock. Almost never buy at the bottom or sell at the top.

The honest answer to your questions is "no one knows, and if they claim to know, they're lying."

Unfortunately for all of us, that's the way it is.

On Kayak when you look at the results of a search, on the upper left you can see a graph showing the history of the prices. Of course, as they say of the stock market, "past performance is not a predictor of future performance."

Where from in the US, and where to in France? As long as you haven't booked yet, seriously consider the possibility of flying into one airport and out of another (say, into Marseille and out of Paris). France is a big country, and a person can waste a lot of time flying RT to Paris and then training or driving to other parts of the country. Nice, Marseille, Bordeaux, Toulouse, and Lyon are all major airports with service to lots of places, and then there are smaller airports with service via Paris. If you do want to do this kind of multi-city trip, do look for "multi city" rather than two one ways, as that's usually much more expensive. And strongly consider starting at the airport requiring a connection and ending in Paris rather than the other way around, to avoid having to get up too early to make your plane.

Thanks for replies. I'll have a look at Kayak. I plan to travel RT Seattle-Toulouse, and am not interested in departing France from a different airport, as this works perfectly for my plans. (I flew into Toulouse and out of Paris last time.) I'll be there 4-5 weeks this time.

If Toulouse is best for your plans, that's fine. What I meant is, we often see posters who have booked a round trip flight to Paris (or London or Madrid or Rome) just because it's the city they've heard of, or because it's "cheaper." They are now asking how to get from there to other places in the country that will take some time and money to reach, and the common answer is "if only you had booked into another airport, your trip would be much smoother, and ultimately cheaper." It sounds like you've got that detail covered - good work!

Have you investigated flights from Vancouver BC to France?

Norma suggested looking into leaving from Vancouver instead of Seattle, and she may be right. My family is flying from Vancouver to Paris (and on to Italy) in June and July, because it was hundreds of dollars less expensive than going out of Seattle! It is really cheap to rent a car to drop off at YVR, so you don't have to pay parking.
