Royal Riviera Hotel St. Jean Cap Ferrat

Has anyone stayed at the Royal Riviera in St. Jean Cap Ferrat? How was the hotel? Did you like Cap Ferrat? We are going to Côte d’Azur end of August (have been there before but not Cap Ferrat). Thank you for any thoughts and recommendations!

Several years ago we stayed at the Royal Riviera in St Jean Cap Ferrat and really enjoyed it. It has a nice beach area and water sports as well as a lovely pool. The breakfast was wonderful. Behind the hotel we walked on the Maurice Rouvier path to the town of St Jean Cap Ferrat. There are spectacular views on the walk. There are nice shops below the walkway in St Jean Cap Ferrat. You are also near the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild which is worthwhile. We had lunch there after our tour.. Villefranche sur Mer is close by and has a lovely waterfront area and great restaurants. It is a charming hillside town with a relaxing shale beach. This will be a great trip for you!

I can attest that Cap Ferrat is spectacular. Right beyond the Royal Riviera hotel starts another seaside town Beaulieu-sur-Mer which was gorgeous too. It has a nice beach, a beautiful park, restaurants and shops. Along the sea in Beaulieu-sur-Mer is the Villa Kerylos, a Greek style villa with beautiful gardens. Unfortunately, it was closed when I was there. The town also has an old church with beautiful wood carvings and other beautiful religious art. There was a very nice home store where you can buy lovely Provence items--tablecloths, lavender, etc. There was also a farmer's market selling fresh fruits and vegetables.

I was staying in Villefranche-sur-Mer and walked to Beaulieu-sur-Mer and Cap Ferrat. It isn't that far. It was the highlight of my trip to see Beaulieu-sur-Mer and the Cap. I was underwhelmed with Monaco and Nice which are both basically big cities.

I really liked the beach next to Royal Rivera. There was also a beach further down the Cap which looked very small but seemed popular with families.

You should be aware (check out a map) that Royal Riviera is not in St. Jean Cap Ferrat. It's closer to Beaulieu-sur-Mer. If you want to stay right in St. Jean Cap Ferrat, you should look for hotels further down on the Cap itself, on the eastern side of the Cap.
