Rouen to Paris-same day train ticket?

Hello!

We are planning a trip to France in October, and plan to rent a car from Rouen for a week, drop it off at the same location, and then go to Paris for an additional week (we plan to travel by train from Rouen to Paris). We will be driving from Amboise to Rouen to drop the car off, and I don't know exactly what time we will get to Rouen since it's such a long drive. What are my options for last minute train tickets to Paris? Can I just show up at the station and get a seat, or are there flexible ticket options I can buy ahead of time? I saw an option for Tarif Loisir tickets, but I'm not sure if that would be what I needed.

Why not just drop the car in Amboise and take the train into Paris from there? Save yourself a few hours of driving. You can find train schedules and buy tickets here:

They have an app as well so you can have your tickets on your phone if you buy in advance or you can buy from your phone.

Hope I'm not derailing your thread (pun completely intended), but have you considered returning the car at the St Pierre Des Corps station and taking the TGV into Paris from there? It's only about 30 min from Amboise. And the train ride is only an hour or so. There are several agencies at the station, including Sixt, Avis, and Europcar. There may or may not be a drop off fee because you rented from a different location in France. You may have more limited options if dropping off in Amboise

Those are both brilliant suggestions! I hadn't even thought of dropping off the car at another location and just taking the train straight to Paris. That would save us a ton of time and headaches.
