My husband and I will be staying in Rouen on Sunday evening in mid-June. Then we have hotel reservations near CDG on Monday evening and fly out on Tuesday morning. Best timing for catching a train from Rouen to Paris? Looks like we must take a train from Rouen to Gare St Lazare, and then to CDG. We’d like to spend much of Monday in Rouen, but also wonder about how much time to reserve for the trains and connections, and if we should try to avoid any “rush hour” (do they have rush hours?) and also avoid a lot of time at our CDG hotel.
And when should we purchase our train tickets?
Hotel near the airport or hotel at the airport? At the airport is better for a host of reasons, one of them being that you can take a flat rate taxi from Gare Saint Lazare, where the trains from Rouen arrive in Paris, to the airport. Why don't you just take a train from Rouen at around 6PM or 7 PM to Paris? You should avoid rush hour that way. I would avoid Bla Bla Bus (based on reviews from my nephew who has very low ("I'm a short on funds student traveler who can't afford to be picky") standards when traveling so I take his negative reviews very seriously.
We will be staying at Ibis at the airport on Monday eve. And yes, a taxi might be easier, will keep that in mind. We will have had 2+ weeks in France, so should have better transportation skills by then.
Buy train tickets soon?
