Group of five adults moving from Rouen to hotel in Bayeux on Monday 8Jul.
I know we could rent a car. We have tours arranged in Bayeux so we don't need a car while there.
If by train, I understand we would change trains in Caen.
Maybe we should take a taxi or hire a driver to collect us in Caen?

Caen is a roughly 30 min drive from Bayeux. I'd book the train through to Bayeux personally. The Caen station is small and easy to navigate for changes compared to larger stations in Paris, for example.
Agree with Bill about changing trains in Caen. It should be an easy transition.
