My husband and I are going to Rouen for 1 night in September. I have 3 questions: 1). should I buy my train ticket from Rouen to Paris in advance? I understand there are several trains a day. 2). Is there a place to store our luggage while we sightsee? 3). Has anyone toured the new Joan of Arc Museum? I understand it's all in French. I have read mixed reviews on it. I am interested in other tips if you would like to share.
Thank you.
I would contact the Rick Steves' Europe train consultant.
A couple of weeks ago, we were on the train to Vernon (a trip to Giverny) and the train was going from Gare St. Lazare to Rouen. It was not a TGV train, there may not be any on that route. I bought the ticket at the St. Lazare station 30 minutes before departure.
A ticket purchased the same day as the day of travel costs around 24 euros and one purchased 90 days in advance costs around 10 euros and is non-refundable and cannot be exchanged. I have not been to the new museum having not been to Rouen since 2013. There is no luggage storage at the train station in Rouen. Maybe you can try contacting the Rouen tourist office through their website to see if they have any suggestions like maybe a local hotel that will store luggage of non-guests for a fee.
