Romatic hotels in Paris

Looking for a romantic hotel for next June in Paris.
Centrally located in the Marais or Luxembourg areas or elsewhere central.
Rooms should be spacious and not too pricey.

Alas — spacious, centrally located, and romantic don’t usually go together with “not too pricey” where Paris is concerned.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles. It is within walking distance of the Luxembourg Garden.

What is not too pricey in euros?

Le Marais has a good selection of inexpensive hotels, those under 150€ a night but, as this is an older part of Paris, rooms are not likely to be spacious and more functional than they might be romantic.

By Luxembourg, do you mean St Germain, which might have a number of hotels meeting your requirements in the 150€ to 250€ price window? Or do you mean Latin Quarter, generally 5th arrondissement, primarily east side of blvd St Michel, where hotel rooms are again likely to be smaller and more modestly priced?

There are thousands of hotels in Paris. The key to finding a good match is to be as precise as possible.

Spacious AND not pricy? In Paris? If you haven't been to Europe before, you need to understand that hotel rooms are frequently smaller than their North American counterparts. But as the saying goes, size isn't everything.

Not far from the previously mentioned hotel ( and across the street from the Pantheon), is the Hotel des Grandes Hommes. It's a charming boutique hotel that we've stayed at and enjoyed twice.

But if you need a large room, you could check out one of the American chain hotels.

I highly suggest the HÔTEL LYRIC OPÉRA. It is in a fabulous location - 10 mim walk to Opéra, Place Vendome, the Louvre, 15 to les Halles. The rooms are modern, beautiful, and have amazing showers eith Nuxe soap and essential oil pods. Truth be told my week here has been one of the most romantic for me here in Paris. The hamman, steam room, and pool are unbeatable.

...romantic...centrally located...spacious...not too pricy.

Don't mean to be Debbie Downer and rain on your parade, but most of these are mutually exclusive. Forget the romantic hotel, Paris is romantic enough just by itself. Forget spacious as most Eoropean hotels as small by U.S. standards. With regard to prices, the more you pay the more you're apt to get all you want, and the less you pay the less likely you'll get everything on you list.

That leaves centrally located. The Hotel des Deux-Iles is as centrally located as can be on Ile St. Louis and staying there is somewhat romantic itself. There are a couple of other hotels on the same street. Cross the river and you will be in the Marais -- cross it the other way and you'll be in The Latin Quarter. Walk to the end of the island, cross the bridge, and you'll be at the back of Notre Dame -- such as it is now as some of the immediate area is closed off. The Metro is near enough that getting anywhere is not a problem.

Enjoy, and remember that romantic is a state of mind.
