Rodin centennail exposition at Le Grand Palais

Thought I'd share in case anyone else is interested.

It goes from now until end July:

Now if I can just figure out how to squeeze it into my well-planned Paris itinerary in June. It's situations like this that threaten to compromise my time for people-watching in cafes and sitting in lovely gardens! :)

:(

We don't arrive until August 17. Would have loved that.

I walked past the Grand Palais on Sunday and there was a pretty long line. If you are squeezing time, allow for that.

kunomchu—"The exhibition is structured into three major sections: Rodin the expressionist, Rodin the experimenter, and the effects
of this shockwave after 1945. Each section is broken down into three parts, which explore the artist's creative world,
the exhibitions and collectors he attracted and the ways in which numerous artists have appropriated his work,
from his lifetime to the present day."

I'll second the long line when we walked by a few weeks ago - we asked about it and I think they said it was about an hour wait!

Has the collection at the Rodin museum remained intact? We have been twice, and would return again in a few weeks unless pieces have been removed to the larger exhibition. Not a big deal, but curious. Thanks .

I second Denny's question, but I have my suspicions. In 2015 I went to Zagreb and found that there was a temporary exhibition of Rodin's work in a special venue. It was a good show, and I was curious about the sources of the pieces shown. In looking at the placards I learned that a lot of the pices were from the Paris museum. It was so pronounced that I wondered what remained in France, though for all I know the French loans came out of the storeroom.

During several years of renovations the Rodin museum sent packages of its treasure on tour, just like the Rolling Stones, earning money or future favours on the exhibition circuit. Two summers ago I saw a revealing show in Montreal based on the sculptor's use of plastic models. The museum's website is helpful for this anniversary year's events: http://www.musee-rodin.fr/en/home
There you will see that The Kiss will not be at home this summe. It has moved to the Grand Palais until mid-July and then transers to Calais until mid-September. A terra cotta model will hold its spot at the Rodin.

We just returned and did visit the Rodin Museum. If anything had been removed we surely didn't notice. I really enjoy this museum for its intimacy and gardens...in the third week of May the roses were blooming outrageously. I chatted with a woman from LA who was visiting it for the umpteeth time over the years....always her first stop in Paris. Her descriptions of the history, buildings, expansion and changes over her time added an interesting level to our visit.
