Riviera at (unfortunately) Grand Prix time

We are flying into Nice evening of Monday 5/22. Haven't decided where to stay yet but plan to drive out through inland Riviera 5/24 or 5/25. We are much more interested in exploring Nice, Villefranche-sur-Mer and along the coast than Monaco and may skip Monaco altogether. Will traffic be horrendous? Will driving along the Three Corniches be a bad idea at that time?

We were there at that time last year, albeit traveling only by train. We did skip Monaco entirely and the other cities were totally enjoyable. Don't skip Antibes! Simply lovely!
