Hi! I was looking to see if anyone had recommendations on the river cruises on the seine in Paris? which ones are best? this would just be myself and my husband for April 2019. thanks!
I'd recommend Les Vedettes du Pont Neuf, departing often from the Ile de la Cite, no reservation needed so you can do it when the weather's right and it fits with what else you're doing. Live narration, comfortable and fun. There are others leaving from near the Eiffel Tower.
While an evening cruise is fine, I wouldn't recommend a dinner cruise. You want to be focused on the passing scene, not your food, and the food probably isn't that great anyway for the price.
I agree with poster above. They used to have discount coupons on their website.
We were at the Eiffel Tower and walked across the street and down the stairs from the bridge to the Seine River. There were a couple of river cruise boats working out of that area. We did a really great evening cruise for a little over an hour along the Seine to the Notre Dame area.
it was wonderful (January was cold, but we had the option of sitting in the inside area, or outside on top.
I saw that there were numerous River cruise along the Seine and - lots of options.
Happy Travels.
We're having dinner at the Eiffel Tower and would like to take a cruise afterwards. Any idea on how late they run the cruise?
My granddaughter and I very much enjoyed the Vendettes de Pont Neuf. It was very easy to obtain tickets. We just walked from our hotel, purchased the tix and boarded right away. I did know the schedule ahead of time in order to make the sailing on time. Agree with others who have suggested not going for the cruise that includes dinner.. the food surely can’t be that good. I hope you enjoy your stay in Paris. We had a wonderful trip. Granddaughter loved the ride - it was one of the highlights of the trip along with the fashion show. Being a 10 year old girl, the fashion show was so enjoyable.
Au revoir!
Linda
Or you could do something a little more local (and a little more low key) and take the Bateau Bus (check out their website). It's a hop on/hop off service covering the same parts of the river as the larger boats - but cheaper and less noisy. We much prefer it.
We have taken several cruises with different companies and Les Vedettes du Pont Neuf is, in our opinion, the best of the bunch. Taking one after sunset really gives new meaning to "The city of lights". Our suggestion is to skip the dinner cruise. You'll get better food many, many places, and by eating before or after you'll be able to devote your entire attention to the passing beauty that is Paris.
The Batobus is another fun way to get up and down the river. It's really part of the transit system, stopping at various points in a loop. The boats are bigger than the tour boats and all the seats are under a transparent roof. There's no narration. You can take individual trips or buy an all-day pass. We got a pass for the last day of our first trip to Paris and got on and off to revisit some of our favorite places near the river.
As a means of transportation it's slow and infrequent, and of course limited to the river, compared to buses and the Metro. As a means of sightseeing it lacks narration or an open deck. I'd still recommend the Vedettes, or one of the other tour boats, over the Batobus.
You might also be interested in the Canauxrama cruises, which cover longer stretches of the river and also the Canal St-Martin on the right bank.
We did Calife a few weeks ago and had a LOVELY evening. The food was good, too. I found it highly rated on Yelp AND TripAdvisor. I understand that this is more expensive than a regular cruise with no food. But we splurged for our last night and were so glad we did!
Just bought my kids the Vedettes du Pont Neuf Champagne cruise to help them celebrate a significant birthday. Starts at the Arsenal, goes through a lock, and goes further up and down the river for 2 hours instead of 1. Same discount on the Vedettes du Pont Neuf website. And cheap for what you get--about 20€ .
I agree with those who like Vendettes de Pont Neuf. You can buy the tickets on your phone to get the discount. No need to print as they have a reader there so just show the tickets on you phone.
