Ride to CDG from Paris

We are in Paris this week! It is difficult to get a taxi in the morning for visits to museums. We need a reliable taxi or car to CDG on Saturday. My husband walks with a cane and we cannot take a bus. Any recommendations for reliable service for 2 to airport?

Are you staying in a hotel? If so, ask the front desk to arrange a taxi for you. Regular taxis are available for prebooking and are reliable. As you probably know, the taxi will be flat rate of 53€ or 58€ depending on where you staying but there is an additional 7€ for the reservation. If you are staying in an apartment, you can arrange the taxi yourself by downloading the app for Taxi G7 see https://www.g7.fr/en/) and reserving the car (same cost as mentioned above). Be outside about 5 minutes before the pick up time because the taxis tend to arrive early.

It's not as easy to get a taxi on the streets of Paris as many people think. Taxi stands, except the one near Place Vendome, the one near Bastille and the one on Blvd Saint Germain near Les Deux Magots, can and often are empty or at least that has been my experience. Waving a taxi down on the street is catch as catch can so you are absolutely correct to want to have something reserved for the airport trip.

G& taxi service is the one to use! Order online a day or so before; couldn't be easier.

G7 is what was meant above (slight typo). Good service indeed. Booking a day early is usually enough, but you can book sooner if you wish.

Use G7 -- we have done this many many times. You want to book this at least a full day ahead, not just the night before -- maybe two days. They have never failed us, but we did have a bit of trouble booking the night before this spring and had to pay for an enhanced service (no difference I could see) because they were short of cabs. We will be booking further in advance this fall for our return.

The hotel desk will have a taxi outside your door at the appropriate time. Easy peasy.

Your hotel can also get you a private car, ask about the price and decide if it's worth it to you.

Re taxi stands, I saw them everywhere and there were always at least 2 or 3 cars idling. Not hard to find at all.

If you are not in a hotel you can easily download the G7 app and book it yourself on Friday afternoon. Otherwise, do as the others indicate and have your hotel book a taxi for you.

If you are headed out early, I'd not count on a taxi stand. The one in the area where I usually stay often has taxis during the day but nary a one in sight at 6A!

You could use the G7 app to prebook your sightseeing taxis, too, not just the airport. There is a booking fee.

I’ve used G7 many times. Usually just called the English speaking # the night before. We did have one little glitch once — I’d called the night before, and because between the 2 of us, we didn’t have enough euro left to pay the fare, I asked if we could pay by CC and was assured that we could, no problem. We were picked up on time around 5:30 am and when we got in, my friend immediately asked the driver if CC was OK and he replied that his machine was broken. So we had to stop at an ATM on our way out of town which didn’t make us too happy. As I have read mentions of taxi drivers saying their CC machines were broken (not all G7 - just taxis in general), I wonder if it would have been broken if we’d arrived at CDG without having first asked that question?

Never leave it to the morning to get a cab; sometimes airport cabs are not available. Book at least 24 hours ahead or have hotel do it. I see no advantage of a 'private car' as they are usually more expensive for no superior service.

The one thing I have observed about Paris taxi stands is that they don't have taxis -- with the exception of very busy areas like Bastille or the Eiffel Tower. We have had apartments near taxi stands without ever seeing a taxi. Maybe if you stand there one will come by, but I'd never count on flagging a cab or finding one at a taxi stand if it were important and certainly not at 6 am.
