Rick Steves guidebook with Menton walking tour?

Hi forum friends,

I'm planning to visit Menton in May. I adore the self-guided walking tours in the Rick Steves guidebooks. Does anyone know if there is a walking tour of Menton in a newer book?

The book that I currently have is the Rick Steves France book (published June 2024) and Menton is not included. I took a look at the online shop and I can't tell if other French Riviera books have a walking tour in Menton... or just a mention of the town. Anyone have an updated book to confirm?

Thank you!

I have the 2022 edition of Provence and the French Riviera. There is only about a page on Menton and no walking tour.

That book has walking tours for Aix-en-Provence, Antibes, Arles, Avignon, Isla-sur-la-Sorgue, Marseille, Monaco, Nice, Nimes, Roussillon, and Villefranche.

I googled it and AI said there was one in the RS Nice and French Riviera guide book. Maybe someone with that book can confirm.

Edit to add, maybe check with the RS office to see what is included in the new 16th edition.

I have the 14th edition ebook of the RS Provence and the French Riviera; The few pages on Menton do not include a walking tour. My Rough Guide to Provence and the Cote d'azu does not have a walking tour of Menton either but it does have considerably more detail on Menton.

Liz,
Maybe you could contact the Menton Tourist Bureau and see if there is a guide for a walking tour among their brochures. If so, you could pick up a copy when you get there.

I googled it and AI said there was one in the RS Nice and French Riviera guide book.

I think AI is wrong as the RS site says:

Rick Steves Snapshot: Nice & the French Riviera contains the complete chapters on this region, excerpted from Rick's full-size Provence & the French Riviera guidebook — and leaves out the chapters on Provence.

If there is no Menton walk in the Provence and French Riviera Guide, it won’t be in the snapshot guide.

I've had a lot of success in using AI for itineraries and walking tours.

We have what we hope is a good one planned for the D-Day beaches when we visit in October.

Obviously you have to double check the suggestions but there always seems to be links provided to enable you do that.

it might be worth trying.

Hi all, Thank you for your replies!

In case others stumble upon this question in the future: I went to a bookstore today and found the March 2026 version of "Rick Steves Provence and the French Riviera." And wouldn't you know... Rick and team have now made a Menton walking tour! (Page 427). It's only three pages, but I always appreciate a little guidance.

That’s good to know. I am glad you were able to check out the book.
