Wife and I will be spending a Saturday evening in the Ibis Styles Hotel at CDG and wondered what dinner choices are available within easy access to the hotel.
Don't want to spend a lot but would prefer something other than dining in the terminals.
Any recommendations.
It's difficult to recommend anything without knowing which Ibis Styles at CDG this is. There are a few. You might be near the town of Roissy and able to eat there, or there could be other hotels nearby with restaurants. None of the restaurants out there are memorable. Even the best I've found, in the Mercure Hotel, is factory food. If you can get into Paris for a last evening meal, that would be the best.
Most of the shops, cafes, restaurants at the airport shut down around 7 p.m. I've stayed in the Sheraton and wandered into the terminals looking for something to eat, finding only a self-service with sandwiches, yogurt, croissant, etc.
We head into town and have a decent meal. I'd go to the terminal before I ate at the Hilton where we had the worse meal we have ever had in Europe for high prices. If you are in early enough, it is worth it to take the train into Paris for a nice evening stroll and dinner.
The only place I have eaten at CDG that was basically edible was a Paul "resturant" in Terminal 2 (Delta) It's run by the bakery company but did have a full menu. It was not outstanding but was edible :)

If you don't want the restaurants within the airport precincts, it is easy enough to skip over to the village of Roissy, but what you will find there is mostly restaurants run by the same hotel chains.
A friend who just got back from Italy yesterday spent her last night in the CDG area because she missed her connection and the airline put her up at an Ibis. I don't know which one, but she said it was a short shuttle trip from the airport. In any event, the airline also gave her vouchers for the buffet dinner at the hotel. She said she expected junk, and generally doesn't like buffets, but it was superb.
I know people are down on this place, but we ate at the Hilton because we were staying there and it was fine. It's fairly upscale and not cheap, but hey you're in Paris so what does one expect?
