Restaurants in the Marais district

I will be going with my 11 year old granddaughter in July to Paris with a tour and we'll be staying in the Marais. Aside from the restaurants Rick lists in his guidebook, are there any others that people would recommend in that area?

Oui Patty,
The 'Chez Nenesse' restaurant is deliberately old-school and traditional. Your granddaughter would be able to try dishes that have not been regulars on Parisian menus for some time. As well, their price point has remained reasonable, not something that every Marais eatery could claim.

We loved Robert et Louise, primarily for the excellent steak. They also had chicken, lamb and duck too and the green beans that accompanied my steak were literally the best I have ever had in the world.

For a quick lunch or dinner, I can highly recommend Miznon, an Israeli street food in the heart of the Jewish quarter of the Marais. The food is delicious, super fresh, and affordable. Their pita sandwiches have tradition falafel, lamb, and with a French twist, Bouef Bourguignon. It gets super crowded and has limited inside tables. If you can eat at the bar, you can watch the chefs work. When we went, I asked the chefs (in my high-school French) about their what their favorites were. We ordered our pitas and then the chef delivered a lamb stew and sweet potatoes as a gift to us to try. We had so much fun.

One other place that was in the Marais near our hotel that I went to every day is a bakery called Aux Merveillieux de Fred. It is a pastry shop specializing in merveilleux, a delicate French-Belgian dessert with light meringue, whipped cream, and assorted flavors, most classic is chocolate. The have small sizes so you can sample. They also have an amazing brioche bread with raisins.
