Restaurants in St. Germain des Pres area

We will be staying at the Hotel des Deux Continents and I am wondering if anyone here can recommend some nice, but not overly fancy restaurants in that area for dinners after our days of sightseeing. I don't tend to choose places that require reservations as we don't want to be tied down to being back from wherever we are for dinner. I know that eating is an activity in and of itself for the french, but that's just not us.

Thanks in advance.

We are in Paris now and had dinner one night at a Greek restaurant called Zorba The Greek. We also had a wonderful dinner at Bouillon Racine, but it is kinda fancy and would need reservations. We also like Le Hebu, more of a cafe though and service was spotty.

Almost any restaurant, particularly in this area, worth going to will require reservations. Otherwise, there are a number of tourist class restaurants along rue de Buci or rue Saint-André des Arts, nothing particularly noteworthy, menus are around 30€ to 35€.

A few I might mention, for which you will need a reservation:

la Jacobine, simple traditional French dishes
Huguette, Bistro de la mer
Freddy´s not expensive and you may not need a reservation.

Le Relais de l´Entrecôte on rue Saint-Benoît does not accept reservations and is generally a good location for steak-frites.

Some of my favorite restaurants very near your hotel:

Armani/Ristorante (not the Armani Café) - 1 Michelin star with fabulous Italian food. The entry is the same as the men's clothing store.
Evi Evan - Greek style run by a well known local caterer. Moderately priced.
Aux Prés - Cyril Lignac
Le Bon Saint Pourcain
Brasserie Lipp - Historical Alsacien restaurant with charmingly grumpy waiters and an old world interior.

Le Comptior, (just across the street from le Hibou) is very popular with tourists and does not accept reservations. I do not think it is worth the wait, but I may be in the minority.

You will also want to have a café or an apéro, at least one time, at either les Deux Maggots or Café de Flore. Wait for sidewalk seating, it is one of the most entertaining shows to watch in the city, all for the singular price of about 5€.

If you are interested in crepes or galettes, I really like Breizh Cafe across the street from Le Hibou.
