Restaurants in Bayeux...and beyond?

We'll be in Bayeux for four nights, September 11-14. Most of the "usual suspects" good restaurants in Bayeux itself are either closed or are already booked those nights (at least online--I'll get on the phone tomorrow). But we'll have a rental car, so I'd be interested in recommendations for two- or three-star places within driving distance, especially on the northern coast. Any thoughts? Or, for that matter, any hidden gems in Bayeux I might not have come across?

I'm not as big a fan of Bayeux as many visitors from the U.S. seem to be, but I would suggest going to Gault&Millau's website, entering Bayeux in the search field after choosing France, and then clicking on "Tous les restaurants." You'll find several recommendations.

Well not exactly "close" (40 minutes), but one of my favorite places is Auberge John Steele in Sainte-Mère-Église. But there is a lot to recommend that town anyway—particularly if you are interested in WWII. Otherwise, Port-en-Bessin is 20 minutes away and has some lovely places right on the old port. But honestly, I am not sure about 2 or 3 stars anywhere in this area.

We had a really nice meal at Le Pommier, not so much Maison B.
Moulin des Galettes was good, too.
Fine dining at our hotel - Le Lion d'Or was good but expensive, although the service was slow.
There are also lots of "walk in" informal places.

Hi,

I was there with a buddy in November '23 and really enjoyed Le Drakkar (seafood ravioli in a bisque sauce) with steak tips as the main course. Also had a delicious dinner of chicken roti at Le Petit Resto. We tried to get into Le Pommieu as it was recommended by our Air BnB host, but it was booked solid.
