Hi
What sort of restaurant do you like, at what price ? In the historic center or in shopping centers ? Trendy or traditionnal ? There are so many restaurants in and around Angers that it's not easy to help you.
That said, here are some adresses :
Chez Pont-Pont (Trendy, in front of the castle.
Mamie fada : trendy, in front of the castle, but on the other side of the river Maine, in la Doutre. Pleasant terrasse with a view on the castle.
L'Authentic :traditionnal local food, (the "fouées"). If you don(t know what is a "fouée", search this word or "restaurant de fouées" in Google.
For exotic food : Le Tai l'Inde
Traditionnal cuisine : la Ferme
To eat on a barge in front of the castle, but on the other side of the river : L'eau à la bouche ( it's possible to eat outside), or "la Péniche"
Near Angers, in quaint villages : L'auberge de Chanteclair in Bouchemaine and in "la Pointe", a charming village along the Loire, the "Monkey" (trendy).
I also mention the shopping center "L'Atoll". It's a shopping center, but with a beautiful architecture, and the are plenty of restaurants at correct prices. https://www.latoll-angers.fr/les-restaurants/
Out side Angers, near the rivers, there are also traditionnal "Guiguettes". https://www.anjou-tourisme.com/fr/preparer-son-sejour/manger-deguster/guinguettes

Thank you so much for all the information. We will be staying at Hotel de France, near the city center and the chateau. We are interested in restaurants within walking distance, especially within about 15 minutes walking :). (6 family members ranging from 15 to 71 yrs.)

Hi
If you stay in hôtel de France, it's in front of the railway station, and at 5 minutes walking from the center or from the castle. Angers is divided in two parts : la Doutre, north west of the river Maine, and the main town , south east of the river. Both parts are interesting concerning old streets, monuments and restaurants, but "la Doutre" is at 20 minutes walking from your hotel, and it's a little slopy for the return. So, I don't know if you would be interested by Mamie Fada, and the two restaurants on a barge.
Just near your hôtel, there is a correct restaurant, with seafood specialities "la brasserie de la gare". The terrace is a little noisy, as it's just near the street. Other wise, the restaurants I have already mentionned are not far from your hotel. For l'authentic, it's just "fouées", so it's simple (but very good). I will add some restaurants : la crêperie du château . Nice but small terrace, it's better to book. For pizzas : le Napoli. For meat : "la Boucherie". If you like "soufllés" : la Soufflerie. For "choucroutes" : le milord. That said, I live there since twenty years, but I don't know all the restaurants of Angers, so my list is not exhaustive at all .

I would also like to thank you, as I will be in Angers the third week of November, staying at Hotel Saint Julien.

Gina, I stayed at a cheaper hotel just around the corner from Hotel Saint Julien - nice area!

I won’t be much help on food choices because I ate dinner at a quick taco place at the Ralliement Square, but I did have a nice lunch inside the Angers Fortress in their cafe under some shade trees.

Jean, thank you. The hotel Saint Julian does seem to be in a nice, well-lit area. Might even have the Christmas lights up. Had also looked at Hotel Marguerite d' Anjou, but thought the area might be more empty at night. Angers will be my get over jet-lag town before going to (my beloved) Paris. Thanks again!
