Restaurants for dinner in Beaune

My husband and I spending a month in Paris. Loving the time here, but also planning some short overnight trips to other regions. One trip we're planning is to Dijon and Beaune, and we're wondering if folks on the RS travel forum have suggestions for restaurants in both cities. Love to find wonderful but not outrageous price. Having said that, we live in Chicago so familiar with pricey so not afraid of reasonable cost for good food.

We also would appreciate suggestions for transportation from Dijon to Beaune. Should we take train or get a car? Advantages and disadvantages to these options would be appreciated.

Thank you so much for your help!

Hello Debra,
My wife and I stayed in Beaune last October on our way northeast to Alsace. We followed a recommendation and LOVED Calabria Ristorante (10 Pl. de l'Europe, 21630 Pommard, France). Note, this is an Italian restaurant...and oh, my was it heaven! The staff and ambiance were lovely as well. Reservations are a must. This was a 5-minute drive from Beaune.

Restaurants in Bourgogne can be pricier, though there are plenty of cozy restaurants and bistros within walking distance if you're staying within Beaune's ring road (old city's wall).

The benefit of a car is easy access to many small communes within 15 minutes of Beaune through beautiful wine country.

When are you going? Have a wonderful trip!

Hi Debra,
Le Bistro Bourguignon was our fave. It is the oldest wine bar in Beaune and the new owners apparently have kept standards high. The food was very good but really, the attraction for us was the fact the this wine bar is the only one to serve a wide variety of truly A-list wines by the glass! Pommard. Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and many others. The pinch marks are still there.
Local business men and women favor this restaurant/winebar, and that is why we went in the first place.
Good luck.
