La Favola in Nice. We left Nice last week and we are still talking about that meal, and probably one of the best ever we have come across on our travels. It's Italian, but the have lots of different menu options. Portions are huge. The Lasagna and the Rigatoni were amazing. Portions are good for two, but you want it all to yourself. You won't be sorry.

One of the restaurants that we enjoyed in Villefranche sur Mer was Les Palmiers at 3 Place Amelie Pollonais which was right by Hotel Welcome in a nice area where you can eat outdoors. We ate there 5 times on one trip. It is a casual place. We are still talking about the peach crepes!
La Caravelle on 3 rue de l'Eglise was very good and is on narrow passageway with a view to the waterfront if you sit outside.
We also had a great dinner outdoors at La Grignotiere at 3 rue du Poilu. Villefranche sur Mer is charming. You may wish to get reservations for La Caravelle and La Grignotiere to be sure that you can get seating, otherwise go early.

For Dijon, Le Bistrot des Halles is pretty good. Casual, traditional food. Not too spendy (you can check prices on their website).

If you want white tablecloths and Michelin-starred cuisine (and service), the restaurant at the Chateau Rouge Hôtellerie has two stars and the price to go with it. It's called Restaurant William Frachot. The food there is more modern than at Le Bistrot's.

It must be a Dijon thing to anglicize first names: William Frachot; not Guillaume. Henry Darcy, not Henri.

In Dijon - L'Epicerie on Pl. Emile Zola, three-course Burgundian dinner menu, 25E three weeks ago:
slab of jambon persille maison , hot pan of boeuf en bourguignon with gnocchi, then dessert-we-still-talk-about, pear poached au vin rouge with cassis sorbet. Old place, stone walls & rustic stuff, cheery staff, local patrons.
