We enjoyed U Museu and La Trattoria Corte (both in Corte) and Casarella (Bonifacio). Good, local food and reasonable prices. I’d put U Museu and Casarella ahead slightly for food quality.
We also had an unforgettable anniversary dinner at Finestra in Bonifacio. We were there in 2024 and they have since received their first Michelin star — exceptional service and beautifully creative takes on traditional Corsican food. Much pricier than the others, but a splurge we did not regret.
Thank you so much! These all look great. I’ve reached out about reservations — do you recall if they were necessary for the ones in Corte?
It looks like Finestra may have an associated restaurant call D’Amore as well…
We really appreciate you sharing these recommendations.
We were there in mid-May and I think we called or stopped by U Museu earlier in the day. For La Trattoria, we were able to get the last outdoor table for lunch the day that the Olympic flame went through the city. I’m assuming it’s not as competitive otherwise — but that sure was fun!
Yes, d’Amore is on the ground floor and Finestra is one floor up. They may even have a shared kitchen. So I can’t speak to d’Amore personally, but would assume it’s very good.
Let me know if you have any other questions. We loved Corsica and are going back this spring to explore Calvi since we didn’t get there last time.
We too are going to Corsica this spring, 10 days in May — our first trip — and would love any recommendations you have!
We will be making our way from the north to south - starting in St Florent (from which we will tour Cap Corse) to I’lle Rousse (with a day trip to Calvi) to Corte and ending in Bonafacio. We have 2-3 days in each so time to see the surrounding areas. Anywhere you think we are missing that we should try to get in this trip?
We are looking forward to walking around the historic towns as well as hiking. Since RS doesn’t have a Corsica book, this network is especially helpful :)
Kristina and Katie if you can please report back after your trip! We are looking to return next year - we went once 20 years ago and really enjoyed the southeast side. This time we are looking at splitting between there and perhaps the Porto area up north. Have a great trip!
Adding a report on our trip, as requested, for anyone coming back to this post. We were there for 10 nights in May and it was spectacular.
We flew into Bastia and did two nights in Saint Florent, which we used as a base to go around Cap Corse. We did two hikes: Saint Lucia to Tour Seneca and Sentier des Douaniers to Tour S’Agnello (stunning).
We then went to I’lle Rousse for three nights: hiked the I’lle de la Pietra coupled with day in I’lle Rousse and next day Pointe Ravella, again stunning coastal trails followed by an afternoon in Calvi
We also did a day of touring the Hill towns of Balagne — this is the one part we might’ve skipped. It was interesting, but the towns were completely deserted. Perhaps it’s different at other times of the year?
Next we went to Corte in the center for two nights.
We hiked Vallee de Tavignano and Lac de Ninu. Incredible mountainous area with tremendous views. The hikes, especially the second one, were quite strenuous. Katie, thanks for U Museu restaurant tip!
We concluded with three nights in Bonifacio where we spent our days at the beaches — Plage Palombaggio and Petite Sperone were our favorites. Also enjoyed an afternoon in Porto Vecchio. We flew out of Figari.
We highly recommend this trip — and allowing as much time as you can to take in this incredible island. Thank you everyone for the great advice.
