Restaurant recommendations for near Madeleine and L’Opera

Hi, we are staying in the 8th Arr between Madeleine and L’Opera, Hotel Cordelia. Would love to get some restaurant recommendations in the area. Reading through various sites, there are plenty of recommendations for great bistros, brasseries, etc. in Le Marais and Latin Quarter but not near our hotel. In hind sight, I probably should have booked a hotel in those area instead. In any case, would appreciate your help for something close by when we don’t have the energy to trek across town after a day of walking. TIA!

Have you asked the front desk staff? They should have some suggestions. Meanwhile, take a look at Le Clos Bourginon which is near Havre Caumartin metro station, which I think might be near your hotel. Also Cafe de la Paix could be an option.

That's too bad that the hotel staff had no recommendations. Having suggestions for places to eat nearby is part of hotel management 101. I thought of a couple more places that might be within walking distance for you: L'Absinthe ( I lived around the corner from it for a summer and it is very good), Contraste, Le Roi du Pot au Feu (the name says it all -- don't go if you don't like pot au feu).

Why would you you think that a recommendation from a hotel would be good. They might like not like the food you like. There are many websites out there that give excellent advice. Paris by mouth is one of them. They list restaurants by arrondismonts.

And if you're feeling uninspired, walk towards place du Marché Saint Honoré and you'll find a cluster of decent restaurants (no specific rec from me, sorry). It is more lively over there than right between Madeleine and Opera.

We stayed in this area September 2022 and spent many afternoons people watching and enjoying the terrace at the Le Paris London on Pl. de la Madeleine, standard brassierie food, (good club sandwich and frites and very good St. Germain Spritz)

There is a casual Italian restaurant that we enjoyed. Good food, very friendly staff. Note it is closed on Sunday. Le restaurant pizzeria Le Pompéi 19 Rue de Castellane.
Enjoy!

Any person giving you a recommendation for a restaurant may not like the food you like. There is no guarantee that a hotel's suggestion would be good but typically, a hotel has a list of few nearby places that the staff can suggest to guests.
