Restaurant recommendations for Dordogne

I could use some recommendations for moderately priced restaurants in Dordogne, preferably between Beynac and about Monfort. We are already planing on La Belle Etoile in La Roque Gageac (our splurge) and La Petite Tonnelle in Beynac.

We have eaten at La Roseraie hotel dining room in Montignac several times and it was extraordinary and very good value for an elegant multi course meal. I believe the hotel has changed hands in recent years so not sure how it still measures up, but most of the reviews remain pretty good.

The Hotel l'esplanade in Domme has a well regarded dining room. We had one of our first amazing meals in France here decades ago.

The black duck. For location and reviews check it out on TripAdvisor. It’s something of a drive from Beynac But the food is very very good and the prices are more than reasonable. The least expensive bottle of red wine is excellent, produced in the very local area. It might turn out to be too much out of your way but it’s an interesting drive. It’s owned and run by a Frenchman who worked for years at a pub in Dublin. I think this one is a real find.

We ate at Restaurant Cabanoix & Chestnuts in Domme in 2015. The best foie gras we've had on several trips. And each table had its own toaster with plenty of small slices of bread. Pate spread on warm toast, yum! Just pay attention to your table seating arrangement or you'll end up doing all the toasting (of bread). I didn't realize that before I sat down. Still seems inexpensive when I just looked it up.

Thanks for the tips so far. I'm thinking that I'm getting fewer recs for restaurants than I did a few years back on this forum. Wondering if its because of the COVID break in travel and possibly that some restaurants have disappeared over COVID?

Exactly. Restaurant reviews from more than 1-2 years ago are usually worthless: a change of ownership or a change of chef, and a once-good place can go downhill in a matter of months!
In my travels... I rely a lot on Google Maps reviews these days, cross-checked with TripAdvisor for "important" meals. Fake reviews abound, but there are easily spotted (if the good reviews only come from reviewers with fewer than 10 reviews, something's fishy).
Otherwise, no recommendations from me, my knowledge of Dordogne is quite superficial and it is "food hell" for me (I do not eat meat and related products...).

Not on the Beynac/Monfort axis you've mentioned, but Auberge Médieval in Audrix has been a pretty reliable stop for dining. The rooms are a bit spartan if you're looking to stay overnight, but if you're there in warm weather dining outside can be quite pleasant.

Sammy, thanks! John, a dinner (and breakfast) at La Belle Etoile is definitely in the plans, in fact, we are staying there 3 nights.

I do like to have an idea where we plan to eat so I can make reservations and not much is worse than being hungry and exhausted at the end of the day and having to sit and read thru reviews on yelp and tripadvisor.

Balso, agreed. And I feel your pain, I have traveled with my daughter who is vegetarian.
