Hello,
This is an urgent request of kind people on the forum. Our family group which includes a young teenager, has a Louvre tour tomorrow which will end about 6:15 pm. As I know we will be tired and hungry by then, we’d like to find a casual bistro not too far away for an early dinner. Cafe Marly and Cafe Very were both recommended, but the former has a lot of negative reviews and the later, almost no reviews. Any suggestions regarding either of these places, or a different recommendation ?
Thanks in advance.
Just a comment, I have eaten at Cafe Marly twice in the last few years and have always found it very satisfactory. Of course, the marvelous location is part of the experience and partially why I like to go there.
I would recommend, on the Right Bank:
Au Terminus du Châtelet
Au Vieux Comptoir (opens at 19h)
Les Antiquaires on the rue de Bac is an easy walk. Not fancy, but reliable.
Thanks to all who replied. In the end, as it was raining most of the day, we booked at Cafe Marly because of its location at the Louve entrance. I am sorry we did not follow advice to one of the other nearby places. We had a very average, nothing special meal , and found the prices high. The service was brisk, but the experience , already just a B minus in my book, was spoiled entirely when the server took it upon himself to actually suggest a 10% tip! My husband was startled, and we cut it to 5%, and should have done nothing, if we had had the presence of mind. Real gouging, and very tacky. I intend to leave a review on trip advisor mentioning this. I wouldn’t go back. Some of our best experiences this week have been in tiny bistros. In one, I had a leek soup to die for. We should have know that so near a tourist site, we’d be disappointed.
