My Marais Vrbo for June was cancelled with short notice, so I had to find something else lickety-split with very few options available and none in the neighborhoods I have been familiarizing myself with. I found what looks to be a great apartment through booking.com (thank you ricksteves travel forum for the help!) Unfortunately, I know next to nothing about the area. It's in the 2nd arrondissement right around the corner from rue Montorgeuil. Is anyone familiar with that area and can suggest some good inexpensive restaurants or cafes?
on google maps you can pull up nearby restaurants and do some research that way
I'm sorry that your preferred apartment was canceled, but you are landing in a great area with dozens of cafes frequented by locals.
Just walk down Rue Montogeuill and look at the displayed menus -- you'll find lots of nice places to eat and drink.
Stohrer patisserie - over 100 years old, awesome pastries. La Perla, for Italian. Frenchie 2 Go cafe.
A few years ago, I stayed on Rue Bachaumont near Rue Montorgeuil. It's a great area. Take a look at Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie -- it's in the 1st but about a 4 minute walk from the corner of Rue Bachaumont and Rue Montorgeuil
Breizh Cafe for excellent crepes.
