We are going to the French Riviera at the end of September. We want to eat at Colombe d'Or (Vence) and Lou Bantry (Villefranch sur Mer), but they don't take reservations on their websites. Do I have to wait until I am in France and call them then? I am afraid that will be too late. I would greatly appreciate advice on this.
On the Lou Bantry restaurant's website, it is specified that you must call them to make a reservation; the phone number is on the website.
The Colombe d'Or restaurant also has a phone number you can call to make a reservation.
Given the number of bad reviews posted about the Colombe d'Or restaurant regarding the food, the service, and the prices, the last thing I would do is eat there. Even less so after seeing a few photos of the dishes, which look worthy of a €25 menu.
I also read that they ask for a tip when they know the guests are American, which is always a sign of a tourist trap.
