Resale/Consignment Shops in Paris

On our next trip, we want to focus on shopping including resale/consignment shops for gently used designer goods, as well as vintage shops and shops for the house. Can anyone please share some store names and locations? A lot of previously posted suggestions are years old, so hoping to get more updated info. Can't wait until we can go again!

It's really too early to tell. Many of the small shops I am familiar with may not survive the pandemic and what will still be open when the EU finally opens its borders to US passport holders is anyone’s guess.

You might take a look at Spotted by Locals: https://www.spottedbylocals.com/paris/category/activity/shopping/

I haven't reviewed the listings for Paris, but there are vintage-clothing stores mentioned for the three Baltic capitals. I would caution you to go to the stores' own websites for information on days and hours of operation shortly before you head to Europe. I've found the current hours are often quite different from what's displayed on the SBL website, no matter how recent the "Last Checked" date. I imagine the COVID-19 situation has things changing so frequently they've given up checking the operating times. I haven't run across any listed places that have actually closed so far.

This may not be "Au Current", but it is fun to watch a Brit TV Show: "Put your money where your mouth is" .We watched several episodes on Netflix. More Current Shows were on the BBC1 and may be available elsewhere. 2 dealers compete to get the best deals with a limited amount of money and then sell or auction for the best profit margin to donate to charity. Most of episodes are in the UK, but they have a few episodes where they shop the Markets of Paris. My impression is the the Venders offer no bargains, unless they have no high expectations for the objects themselves. It is fun to watch to study bargaining techniques. Bon Chance!

You can try https://chercheminippes.fr/. They have stores on Rue du Cherche-Midi. I think they are closed now for their summer holiday but last I heard they were still in business. There is also WK Accesoires on Rue du Marché Saint-Honoré in the 1st arrondissement. They tend to have pieces like Balenciaga, Louis Vuitton, etc. and they are quite aware of the value of their goods. I have not been but I have heard good things about Réciproque in the 16th arrondissement on Rue de la Pompe. Also look at Les Trois Marches de Catherine B in 6th near Saint Sulpice Church if you are thinking Chanel or Hermès. I have not been there but I know two people who have been (you may need to make an appointment) and one raved about the experience and the other said it was the worst, most snobbish shopping experience of her life. There is also Le Mouton à Cinq Pattes on Rue Saint Placide but that is more of a fashionista place. The person who I know who shops there lives in Paris and is in the fashion business and is semi-obsessed with fashion.

I suggest visiting a site called Travel Fashion Girls on Facebook. It is my go to place to get local perspective when it comes to shopping or anything travel focused. Packing ideas, and a wonderful community of women sharing ideas and assistance. I went to some fab places in Munich that I would never have discovered if it weren't for fellow Travel Fashion Girls.

I love Rick Steves and his tours, but he is not a shopper. Shopping is my middle name and consignment stores are on my flight path. I learned of a great ski wear place near Munich just recently. It would be worth going back to Munich just to shop there! I'd love to score some used Bogner!

Was watching a gal’s Instagram feed that lives in France and she and her husband visited a store near the Loire Valley called EMMAUS.......I googled it and it looks a lot like the Goodwill stores here in America.......she showed some pics of the items at the store she visited and they were lovely.....gently used things of all kinds.......I am a huge shopper too so this will definitely be on my radar the next trip we make to Paris!

Open google maps and type in "Paris consignment shops" the program will then plot their locations for you.

Wow - lots of great options shared here. Know it is a bit premature with Covid and all, but it will be fun to virtually look the stores up and map out some options when the time is right.

In Elaine Scolino's book "The Only Street in Paris" she mentioned that Rue des Martyrs had 2 or 3 second-hand shops. It's close to Montmartre so would be a fun area for spending a day.

I recommend the yard sale/ community sales. I found an app for France. They range from churches selling yard sale types if things to antique dealers with high end stuff. I have bought a few scarves, my favourite souvenirs and a few books and glasses. There are a few going on every weekend.
