RER Train to Versailles Riv Gauche/Chateau

We are visiting Paris the first week of September and understand that there is work being done on the RER C line in Paris. We are staying in the Latin Quarter. Can someone give me advice on the best way to get to Versailles River Gauche station? Where would we pick up the C line for a direct route to Versailles?

On a weekday: you could pick up the RER C at St Michel Notre Dame, as there isn't any service interruption on weekdays in September.
On a Saturday or Sunday: take metro line 10 to Javel from either Mabillon, Odéon, Cluny-La-Sorbonne, Maubert, Cardinal-Lemoine or Jussieu depending on what's closest to you. Then take RER C at Javel towards Versailles Château. At Javel, you need to exit the metro station and cross a big street, the RER station is to the right of a bridge.

The weekend option can be faster than the weekday option (walking to St Michel Notre Dame) if you are staying south of Boulevard Saint Germain, or otherwise far from that station. Line 10 is a comfortable line where seats are usually available.
