We will be in Paris in April. I understand that Metro paper tickets are no more, and one must get a Navigo Easy card and add fares to it. But I am confused about our RER tickets to Versailles. Are those still paper tickets, or are specific higher fares added to the Navigo Easy?
Michelle,
I believe that paper tickets are still available, however they will be phased out soon.
You may consider getting the Navigo Decouverte weekly pass instead.
This pass offers unlimited transport (Monday -Sunday) on the Metro, buses, RER trains, trams.
Hope this helps, enjoy your trip!
We will only be there from Wednesday afternoon until Sunday morning, so the Navigo Decouverte doesn't seem like a good option.
There are no plans to change RER tickets, which are all paper. Only the paper ticket t+ is being phased out.
Tickets which can be loaded onto the Navigo Easy are:
- Tickets t+
- Airport buses; Roissybus or Orlybus
- Navigo Day passes to include the Jeune week-end pass.
Michele,
Since the Navigo Decouverte won’t work for you, then you’ll need to purchase separate RER tickets.
You’ll find detailed information here:

If you’re planning to go up the Eiffel Tower,
make sure you book your tickets soon (presently up to 60 days in advance) for best time selection. Here’s the official website: TourEiffel.Paris
Enjoy your time in beautiful PAris!
Thanks all!
