May I buy RER C tickets to Versailles from a Metro station 1-2 days in advance instead of on the day of travel? Another question is about the return ticket. It was suggested in Rick's book and here that I should buy 2 tickets with the 2nd one for the return trip. Does it mean that the RER C ticket doesn't care about the direction of the travel, whether to Versailles or from Versailles? Thank you.
Yes to both questions! Tickets are not dated and are valid both ways, whatever the order of destinations on the ticket.
Just make sure to choose the correct station in Versailles (Versailles Château Rive Gauche).
Direction doesn't matter and if you should be at an outlying platform that does not have a turnstile that stamps your ticket on entry be sure to find the 'compost' machine to click it before boarding. Not validating the ticket is the same as traveling with no ticket i.e. heavy fine on the spot.
Thank you both. I plan to board RER C at Invalides station. I'm told that the same RER C ticket also covers the leg of the trip on Metro from the metro station near my hotel to Invalides, for example. Is this right? If so, should I validate the RER C ticket at my original Metro station or Invalides, where I first board an RER C train?
